The American Red Cross offers a wide variety of training
courses in first aid, CPR, AED, life guarding, swimming,
babysitting, care giving, and other areas for both
individuals and organizations. We are the most trusted
training provider of health and safety training that meets
OSHA guidelines and many other professional and regulatory
standards. Many self-study classes are available online and
you can also register for classroom courses. You can:

COURSE TYPE DESCRIPTIONS:
- Full Course:
The
purpose of a full course is to provide lay responders with
the knowledge and skills necessary in an emergency
situation. The student is required to attend and participate
in all course sessions, demonstrate competency in required
skills, participate in all skills sessions and pass each
section of the written exam with a score of 80% or better.

- Challenge Course:
The purpose of a challenge is to
provide individuals with the opportunity to demonstrate
their skill and knowledge competency outside of the formal
class setting. The participant has sole responsibility in
preparing for the knowledge and skills tests. Anyone is
eligible to participate in a challenge. For additional

- Web Based/Classroom Course:
The purpose of a web
based/classroom course is to provide lay responders with the
knowledge and skills necessary in an emergency situation.
The student is required to complete the applicable online
session and correctly answer at least 80% of the questions
on the final exam. Participants must successfully complete
the online session before attending the skills Practice and
Assessment session. Participants must attend Skills Practice
and Assessment session and demonstrate competency in
